Basic needs to use this application

  • A Web browser, either Netscape 3.0 or higher or Internet Explorer 3.0 or higher.
  • Your Web browser will need to be cookie enabled aka accept cookies, this is the default
on most browsers. You can read more about cookies here
  • Cookies
  • Sidecar, newer Macintoshes will require Sidecar version 1.5.3, Windows machines
don't seem to be as sensitive in regards to the version of Sidecar they use.
  • Why Sidecar??

  • One of the issues facing us currently is the sniffing of network traffic for the
purpose of collecting userids and passwords. The Telnet based version Travelers allows
Net IDs and passwords to go accross the network in the clear. In the future other
technologies may be used to address this issue.
  • Sending Mail

  • There is some confusion regarding how you send mail with this application.
To create a new message click on the Compose item on the left hand side of the screen,
this will put you into the composer, hit Send Message when your ready.
  • Kerberos err 37, Time Sync problem

  • For any Kerberized application your computer will need to have the correct time, or at least
close to it. If the time on your machine is more than 5 minutes off then you will see this error.
See this URL for more: http://www.cit.cornell.edu/helpdesk/winba/kerb37.html
  • Trouble logging in

  • If you use a machine in a public area and/or a friends machine you will probably need to clear
the tickets already there since they contain someone else's identity. If your having trouble
logging in please clear your tickets, you can find how to do that at the following URL
    http://www.cit.cornell.edu/computer/connect/security
  • Mail Expiration

  • We expire mail in your inbox that is older than 60 days. We do this to conserve
disk space on the server, if you haven't read it in 60 days you probably don't need it anyways
